Necessary for roleplay are the existence of characters: the entity representing players within the setting. Characters must be written and approved by the moderation staff according to the writing and submission guidelines.

Characters are similar to those used in stories, though as the face of players: representing their interests, hopes, dreams and whatever devious plans they might get up to. A player may have several characters, coming in two categories:

• Player Characters (PCs): Those which require a full character sheet. Never used without player permission by others.
• Non-Player characters (NPCs): Characters which are less detailed, generally used for plot purposes and may be one-offs. Recurring often enough, they may be graduated into Player Characters. They can be controlled by a games-master, though not other players unless permission is given explicitly.

• Luca Pavone - Luca Pavone is a Human Badass, working for the Phoenix Team as their leader and Captain, and formerly of the United Defence Directive's Emergency Assault Division. He came from a mountain town, and lived in unity_metropolis for his adult life, and currently resides in sargasso now.

• Isthmau Taa'uotl Paar'enil is an anomaly born as a result of the Lorath Exodus. Her mind, and possibly soul is housed in the shell of a non-standard Lorath SILVER unit she gives her loyalty to the Goddess and the Matriarchy viewing Lor as the only home and family she has never known.

• Yttrium Indium Maganese (YInMn) "Blue" - Yttrium or “Blue” is a Crude Gynoid, serving as a heavy weapons officer for the Phoenix Team. Relying on wiles, a wide knowledge of contacts and biological advantage, she is also a talented smuggler though her great weakness is her expensive apatite and tastes, as well as her gambling addiction. She currently lives in Sargasso, serving as a general busybody for Luca Pavone.

• Breyja Sarn - Breyja Sarn is a Maidenhand Medic and Recon specialist in the Employ of Luca Pavone. A Former UDD Combat Medic that happened to be in the right place at the right time. Born in Sargasso, and boasts that nothing has managed to kill her yet, so she’ll probably die in Sargasso. She may or may not be all there. Jus’ sayin’…

• Mister Snuffles - Mister Snuffles is a poorly named bounty hunter of chelti birth and even temperament. They enjoy beer, long walks on the beach, and daring-do.

• Nurse Er'red Nny'ust Fyunnen Er'red Nny'ust - Er'red is an officer and a nurse on board the LSDF Val'ta. A rival to Ashlinn Sarn, and a confidant of the Captain; Er'red is strained under the weight of their exploration mission, and the disruptive cast he finds himself locked up with.

• Claire Winters A human interpreter/psych profiler aboard the LSDF Val'ta.

• Kay'lana Delfrey Kay'lana is part of the Icecream-Cake walk.

• HOW-TRA-C "Tracy" TRA-C is a guest star in Sargasso.

• Rukasu "Ryujin" Ryugamine

• Miles Gunn Freelance scientist calling the Lorath Matriarchy homeworld his adopted home, and currently serving on the Val'ta.

• Auba & Yaian – Biological twin framerunning pilots heading team Tittenfreik, both bio-augmented gigantic egotists with a worrying commonality with one another, often finishing one another's sentences but deliberately in diametrically opposed ways. Their personalities seem to need a third goal or enemy to fixate upon, lest their aggressive attitudes end up pointed at one another: Auba more cool-headed and considered but often in the clouds while Yaian often on the aggressive with better common-sense; each branding cyan and purple respectively. It is widely suspected they elope.

• Merril Ghere – “A crime against nature”. She is technically a Lorath resident having undergone such severe modification that she is potentially her very own species. She is considered extremely dangerous.

• The Crone - A magic teacher at the Sargasso university, her friendly demeanor hides a sharp mind and whip-like humor.
• Mister Cordial - A Perfect Stranger and research assistant to the Crone.

• "Harumi" - Harumi is a respected small business owner in Sargasso on Butterfly Way. Affiliated with Phoenix Team.
• "Paris" - Paris is head of security and a performer in Harumi's Club.
• "Lei" & "Fina" - Chefs, and security guards. Identical twins.
• "Silk" - Tinian, cuddly hug noodle.
• "Ebony" - Imp, dark with bright orange hair. Dominant.
• "Ivory" - Imp, pale with emerald hair.
• "Skye" - Big fluffy alien, domineering.
• Helga - Centaur, hungry, cuddly.
• "Volante" - Blue alien chick, small and cute.
• "Pud" - Imp, dark with purple hair, caring and meek.
• Momma Sue - Resident fairy godmother, Harumi's mother, and caretaker/manager.
• Pamela - Centaur, druid, pale and caring. Magic support.
