Bay town

Far in the southern hemisphere set at the mouth of a river following a valley down from the mountains that empties out into a sheltered bay partially ringed by barrier islands. The bottom of the bay has geothermal vents that keeps the water warm despite the temperate area.

One of the tributing rivers is dammed up by an old sheer fortress set into one of the valleys between the coastal mountains, and below it, the spillway feeds into a series of aqueducts and waterways. Behind the fortress where an old waterfall used to flow is a cave that leads down beneath the surface into an older cavern city. The fortress also functions as a hydro-electric dam and water plant that provides electricity and drinking water to the city below.

Coast island features housing and squat star fortress that guards the bay. The fortress is hardened against both terrestrial and orbital assaults and features several L-Mark-Two emplacements.

Features a small well developed port, that is regulated to keep the bay healthy and clean.

Most houses are built of carved stone, and quarried with wooden interiors insulated against the cold.

Geothermal power plant, as well hot water is pumped up and circulated for heating purpo ses.

Material names

Seraphium Acorium Brafnium Coluium Drostium Dextrium Estonium Forcerium Gashelium Hemazium Harmatrium Humantium Iovytium Vuliarium/Vuliararium “a stable molecular chain with strong bonds and low density. This element would have been discovered by the first mining operation to cross into the universe. While astoundingly common to the locals, it is new to those entering, and would be dubbed with the name I have just given it. ” Opfirum

Spess factions

Aleph Cluster: Including Aleph Null and Acala systems. A fragmenting old-empire, uses a lot of effective slave labor, inequal living standards, the wealthy are extremely comfortable and extremely decadent while the poor live in squalor given only what is needed to ensure efficient work at their assigned task. Null broke away as Albion declared independence and Traveller exists as an anomaly and the home of a AI network which might not have been feasible for the old empire to fight. Acala is a corporate hub and money is king.

- Aleph Null to Acala is 11.7ly

Lorath Cluster: A group of stars approx 30ly across 1700ly (6 month trip) from the Aleph Cluster, the Lorath cluster is a recently extent intra-universal addition to the setting and is largely unknown. The Lorath are rebuilding their infrastructure and setting out to learn about their surroundings and secure their safety.

The “Utopia”: On the edge of Lorath space; a split empire between an aristocratic upper class who engage in arts, learning, and higher pursuits and a working class who are generally looked down upon by the upper class. Population is much more evenly divided and some intrigue exists between the two classes. A mix of grit and shining spires.

Starfish: Existing on the opposite side of the Utopia from Lor. A group of starfish aliens with a decently sized empire. A stable society which is not expansionist and generally keeps to itself. Technologically advanced and not overly friendly to foreigners. Are in contention with the Utopia over borders and resources leading to somewhat frequent skirmishes between the two.

Biopurists: A civilization which eschews the use of inorganic technology and actively persecutes those who utilize “unnatural” implements. Society grows everything they use having a variety of technology which is based on plant and animal life. Soldiers and warships are typically monstrous fleshbeasts.

The Confederacy: A human purist nation which encourages the cultivation of natural man, the inginuity of man. Militarized republic. All citizens serve in the military. Large standing fleet. Maintains the belief that every citizen should be respected and is typically disgusted by other humanoid factions who chase after wealth at the expense of their fellow man.

The Chorus: A highly spiritual alien faction with weird psi-tech and highly streamlined aesthetic design philosophy. Tend to be warm and accepting to those willing to embrace their faith, but are otherwise varying shades of hostile toward outsiders who snub their faith. Have a habit of trying to implant psi parasites into all adherents of the faith leading to them being viewed as a dangerous cult.
