Design for Smile Sundries packaging and outlets is handled by an extensive creative staff that has been maintained and well paid since the company's inception. The practice is often criticized by other more frugal or shrewd company staff, however, the robust advertising campaigns and almost magnetic storefronts and packaging of Smile Sundries locations tell a story of their own.

Goods are taken into the Smile Sundries network from manufacturers at company-owned warehouses before being distributed locally via truck to individual store locations where upon goods are divided by type and sorted into the various in-store departments to ease customer navigation by grouping related goods.

Smile Sundries stores are known for their bright storefronts, clean locations, bright lighting, and cheerful store music selections frequently choosing a collection of the most upbeat pop songs from over the years.

Advertisements for Smile Sundries are abundant on Noir and Noir-based network channels, famous for their frustratingly clever and catchy jingle and cheerful, bright composition. After just over a century of the commercials cycling throughout Traveller space, almost everyone who has lived locally has seen them.

Smile Sundries maintains a brightly lit and coloured office complex somewhere in Noir.

Started by an older couple living in the Dancefloor Neighborhood of Chelton Noir. Wanted to provide affordable goods to residents. Couldn't afford automated systems or deliveries, and instead focused on customer experience. Became something of a neutral zone for criminal activity due to the popularity of the at the time small storefront with elderly customers and families who enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere and opportunity to not only contemplate their purchases in person, but also to socialize with other customers.

As profits came in and the name spread the small company was expanded into a second larger location, while maintaining the original apartment based store. The desire to communicate the availability to a wider audience and to improve the experience of the customer led to to the hiring of local artists from a wide variety of backgrounds who contributed toward shaping what would be the famous Smile Sundries look and sound. The original Smile logo was drawn by the husband at the behest of the wife, and is the only aspect of the company to remain untouched.

Continued to remain a neutral space on Noir, became famous for customer service and a friendly atmosphere no matter who came to the stores. Worked to meed customer requests, and all Smile locales were provided at consumer request for convenience. Became a household name on Noir within the first decade and crept off-world to the other Traveller colonies slowly over the next fifty years before finally making it to Albion.

The company has been steadfast and focused on working with the customer for a better experience and has been content to grow as it does instead of pursuing aggressive profit strategies. While not the most profitable company, nor the fastest growing, it has through reputation weathered recessions and difficulties that have forced the majority of companies that existed around the time of its founding to close shop.
