LSDF Herald

The LSDF Herald is a heavily modified experimental Star Seeker vessel intended for trans-multiversal recon, built and fielded by the Lorath Self Defense Force.

The Herald was designed to serve as a multi-verse scouting vessel with the capability to engage and evaluate potential hostile capabilities present in alternate existences in the Matriarchy's search for a better home.

The Herald trans-multiversal scoutship was designed with bleeding edge experimental Matriarchy technology combining the joint sum of the Matriarchy's technical knowledge. Its small size, unusual output, and capability to piece the veil separating unrelated multiverses are key points of interest for this ship.

The primary use and function of the Herald was the exploration, evaluation, and data collection of the circumstances present within the alternate multiverse that the Matriarchy had been probing in their quest for security.

The Herald's shape is that of an elongated arrowhead with a quartet of oversized cylindrical engines decorating her back half.

In (year) the Matriarchy determined that after the unexpected dissolution of an until then considered successful peace treaty, closely followed by an increase in aggressiveness from one of their long time oppressors, as well as an unexpected change of succession and turmoil in leadership of one of their closest allies that they needed to take action to safeguard their species unwilling to shed blood in a pointless conflict any longer.

In response to the troubling developments in local space the Matriarchy pushed a background project to the forefront and began experimenting with trans-universal technology in earnest, accelerating their timeline as much of the Matriarchy's resources were channelled into the project eventually leading to the launching of several probes, many of which never returned. The data gathered by those that were retrieved provided the insight needed for Lorath engineers to shape the form and function of the vessel that would become the Herald.

Subspace Wake Drive

The Herald is equipped with a psionic_scrambling_device tied into its computing system, ECM systems, and sensor systems allowing for the Herald to actively monitor and address psionic activity as well as interfere with the mental faculties of enemy personnel.

To fulfill it's purpose the Herald is equipped with a small, yet potent library of weapons.

The primary forward weapons of the Herald are a pair of Compressed Packet Combined Particle Cannons on swivel mounts with a 45 degree range of motion.

For close in weapon defence as well as secondary weapons fire the Herald is equipped with a pair of Compressed Packet Rifles with one on the port side, and the other on the starboard side of the vessel. These weapons are mounted on articulated weapon arms providing a 360 degree arc of fire with a high degree of accuracy, limited only by their position on the sides of the vessel.

For dedicated close-in weapons coverage and anti-missile functionality the Herald is equipped with a quartet of Compressed Packet modified Plasma Arc Disruptor vent strips with one located on the forward topside, one bottom forward, one topside aft, and a final one bottom aft providing all around defence for the Herald.

The Herald's main secondary and utility weapon is a belly mounted R88 cannon.

Another secondary weapons system, the Herald possesses a pair of missile pods on the topside and belly loaded with 20 S-size Lorath Missile munitions each.

A second missile bay on the topside contains a pair of L-size Lorath antimatter warhead missiles.

The final weapon system present aboard the Herald is a heavily modified Gammatron unit which serves as the Herald's means of punching holes in the multiverse. Due to damage to the Herald's VESPA system, it is offline.
