====== Mil'ana Porrim ======
**Mil'ana "Sightseer" Porrim** is a [[species/lorath#house_lmanel|Lorath of House Lmanel]], serving with the Lorath Self-Defence Force as the Captain of the [[plot/lsdf_valta]]. As such, they serve the [[/lorath_matriarchy]] with gusto, residing aboard the Val'ta to explore and colonise the new universe the Lorath now find themselves in.

===== Description =====
==== Physical ====
  * **Face and Eyes** - Almond shaped face, rounded nose, and alert green eyes always looking for the next place to walk to or photograph. When idle, she's pouting; Out and about she's usually got an ear to ear grin. She also sports the upwards pointing ears of Lmanel heritage, but they are noticeably large compared to the average Lmanel. When she's heavy into aspectation, her face becomes 'beaky'.
  * **Hair** - Porrim keeps her long white hair braided into a pair of ponytails at neck length. Unbraided, her hair reaches the middle of her back. Occasionally, you can see feathers in her hair, pointing in the same direction as her haircut.
  * **Body** - Skin like dark chocolate, body shaped a like an hourglass with a thick tummy and narrower in the shoulders. Her hips are still wide as expected for a Lorath woman. Large, black wings on her back poke out of her uniform and stay against her shoulders and back, jumping up when she's startled, surprised, or taken by natural beauty.
  * **Distinguishing Features** - Wherever Porrim goes, she smells faintly of a pine forest.
  * **Voice** - Elizabeth Maxwell as Lady Urbosa.

==== Mental ====
**Psychology** - Vibrant, energetic, restless and sanguine in their love for exploration. When Porrim is stuck on her ship or in transit however, the most restless side of her comes out. When she's able to put their boots, wheels, propulsion, or don an EVA suit and //look// at the universe though, they unfurl completely and leap into it with vigour and gusto.

  * **Likes** - Long walks in the outdoors, Vivian, relaxing and lounging, camping in the outdoors, sexual endeavours.
  * **Dislikes** - Staying in transit or on a ship for a long time, staying in synthetic/urban locations for too long.
  * **Goals** - Discover new places for the Lorath Matriarchy to claim as their own, and do right by the Lorath.

=== Spellbook ===

  * **Lmanel Magic** - During her upbringing, Porrim was brought up in the Lorath Lmanel shamanistic fashion.
    * **Aspectation Link** - Porrim has an emotional link with Vivian, her aspected partner. She has a very good read on Vivian's emotions and mental state, and in turn, Vivian can read Porrim's emotions and mental state. They can even share senses to a limited extent.
    * **Shifting** - Porrim can modify traits and qualities of her body based upon her aspected partner. She can borrow Vivian's keen sight and sense of smell, and they can appropriate Vivian's ability of flight to make her wings large enough to glide. However, the latter is very intensive upon Porrim's body, and she cannot sustain it for more than an hour before having to revert.

==== Social ====
**Personality** - Towards her peers and her crew, she appears carefree and lighthearted, and she addresses her direct Ground Team as unruly schoolchildren. When she is addressing her equals and those above her, she can be professional. This compartmentalisation doesn't bother Porrim much - she knows when to be loose and when to straighten and fly right. For people she loves being around, her personality is mellow and cuddly, perhaps even cloying.

=== Affiliations and Beliefs ===
Porrim is a citizen of the Lorath Matriarchy, and devoted to the religion central to Lorath. She prays a three times a day to the Goddess, in the morning, after lunch, and before bed.

Porrim can speak and read accented Basic, and speaks fluent Lorath Ci'keska and Ly'thir.

===== History =====
==== Pre-RP ====
Having been born into an influential Lmanel family with its claws in the Lorath Matriarchy and aspecting with a creature similar to a Hippogriff, Porrim found herself exploring all avenues of life, going out, making lots of friends. Her family did their best to roll with it, tolerating it as long as she didn't bring any embarrassment to the family.

Using her college connections with other wealthy families and toffs, and those of her families, Porrim found herself paying for her higher education as a biologist by manning a wilderness refuge station and taking care of a Lmanel-controlled park. She loved her job, and loved mapping out the wilderness, but soon she had walked, driven and flown to every given corner and more. She wanted to go somewhere bigger.

In her mid forties, a yearning awakened: She wanted to go into space and see new planets. With her previous connections through college, parental leverage, and her dedication to her job after higher education, she was whisked to the LSDF college to become an officer. She didn't just want to be on a ship and being pushed around - she wanted to be the one doing the pushing. She was prepared to give months, years, and decades to get that far.

Having crossed over from a world of strife and upset and crossed over with the rest of her Lorath countrywomen, she is eager to begin exploring this new world the Lorath have found themselves in.

==== Current ====
Porrim is currently the captain of the LSDF Val'ta. Having taken ownership of the vessel for its unique status within the LSDF fleet and its Sourcian-derived construction, the LSDF Val'ta is her responsibility, with some caveats. Should the vessel begin 'misbehaving', she has orders to scuttle the ship and evacuate. For the time being, that has not come to pass - as Porrim took the vessel to a nearby Lorath-controlled system to stretch the ship's legs and stage a Ground Team expedition. So far, there are no major upsets or shocks from the Vessel, which pleases Porrim.

=== Survival [Expert] ===
From a young age, Porrim enjoyed exploring their surroundings and going out for days, and later on weeks at a time in the wilderness with Vivian, and returning full of stories, photographs and calm. Fortunately, this reflects well on their love of exploration.

=== Animals [Advanced] ===
Keeping a creature like Vivian is a dangerous task for an untrained handler, but Porrim is intimately aware of Vivian's needs, and the two often work and coordinate together, as Vivian shares a Lorath level of intelligence in exchange for granting Porrim's shifting abilities.

=== Starship Operation [Advanced] ===
In Officer College, Porrim learned to take the helm and command a ship with a crew at their back. When she sees a new ship, Porrim don't just see all the features or the compliment - they just want to know where it'll go.

=== Arts [Intermediate] ===
Piles of sketchbooks back home and in her office on the Val'ta are full of coloured and greyscale pencil drawings of the wilderness, they speak more than she can tell you of the wild. She also put these skills to use to draw maps, and transferred the skills to cartography.

=== Entertainment [Intermediate] ===
Porrim's in-depth relationship with Kaserine and other body-altering substances had to go //somewhere//. Let's just say it helped grease some wheels and then some. She enjoys a good dance, and snuggles with her close friends.

=== Leadership [Intermediate] ===
Connected with the ground teams she deploys with, Porrim can gauge and direct them competently and effectively.

=== Basic Skills ===
  * **Firearms** - An okay shot with a revolver and other pistol-sized smallarms, but not well trained enough to be a consistent shot.
  * **Archaic Weapons** - Carries a sabre or a machete as a tool for survival, but can use it as a weapon in a pinch.
  * **Humanities** - Knowing her role as an emissary for the Lorath and for new species, Porrim has a grip on the ins and outs of examining foreign cultures and respecting their boundaries. Even so, she will try and get a deal which benefits the Lorath first and foremost.
  * **Fitness** - All the years of walking and hiking in the wild have given Porrim considerable stamina for overland travel whilst carrying a load, but she lacks raw strength or explosive muscle power.

==== Abilities ====
**Theme** - Porrim is an explorer, a pioneer, and a faithful servant of the Lorath Matriarchy. She is also aspected with a creature who grants 

  * **Racial Abilities** - Part and parcel with being Lorath.
    * **Aspectation** - Like all Lmanel, Porrim has undergone aspectation, bonding with a Hippogriff creature named 'Vivian'. This aspectation can grant Porrim's wings enough span to glide comfortably or make a buffet of wind, and aid in her long-distance vision. In return however, Porrim is known to peck at things which irritate her, and can be a bit of a cuddlebug.
    * **Devotion** - Porrim is part of the Lorath Faith. While she is not as hard-practicing as orthodox Lorath, she nonetheless places her love for the Matriarchy above other causes - and if forced to choose between the Matriarchy and some other choice, she will choose what benefits the Lorath Matriarchy and her mission first.
  * **Party Animal** - In her youth, Porrim was a notorious party animal and a flirt. When she has time to unwind, she can indulge in acts wild, salacious and sexual in nature.
    * **Pheremone Control** - Another benefit of her aspectation, Porrim has a degree of control over what natural scents her body exudes. They have the effect of calming those around her down, or inducing an erotic state of mind.
    * **Drug Tolerance** - Recreational drug use is a common unwinding activity in Lorath society, and Porrim has a detailed knowledge of party drugs, their effects, and how to counter-act or purge them or their negative effects.
    * **Bender** - As a side-effect of her ability to shift, Porrim has found that she can shift her sexual characteristics and traits to better suit a partner or to give them the what-for and show them their place.

=== Finances ===
As the Lorath Matriarchy works in a system of merit instead of in money or cash, Porrim possesses a large collection of precious and semi-precious gems and polished stones. The stones do not have a monetary value per say, but Porrim's contributions and merit carry considerable weight as a Captain.

Porrim suffers from [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stendhal_syndrome|Stendhal Syndrome]]. She experiences rapid heartbeats, dizziness, fainting, confusion and even hallucinations when exposed to extreme beauty or something of severe significance. She keeps this medicated but occasionally flies off the handle in private.
