Clydesdale Assault Terradrone
The Clydesdale “Clyde” is a large, thickly armored terradone with an upright brick shaped body, and four large, solid legs assisted by minor repulser technology. True to it's shape, the Cylde is most often used in numbers as a wall to counter enemy attacks, or as a tsunami to overwhelm enemy defenses.
Characteristics
- Large, mostly autonomous drone used in pitched battle
- Designed to carry all standard weapons internally for easy MAD cannon deployment
- Heavily shielded and thickly armored, with robust construction.
- Redundant systems allows the Clyde to remain functional even after major damage.
- Can fold itself entirely into a (relatively) compact brick shape.

Mission Profile
While formidable alone, Clydesdales are purpose built to be used in large groups to overwhelm enemies on either the defense or offense, with rapid deployment to counter a somewhat slow land speed. Capable of being carried by most vehicle dropships, the Clyde is most often deployed in an array of short-range MAD cannons from a mobile platform as part of its defensive complement. This curtain of Clydes act as an electronic warfare barrier, munitions intercept, and direct combatants to would-be attackers.
History
Clydes are a fairly recent innovation but have seen widespread adoption, and while their defense has been overrun, it was never without significant cost and intense firepower by enemy forces, often giving their mother platform time to escape the situation. Most often Clydes present a formidable barrier to any attacking force and can be deployed rapidly from internal stores if the mobile platform is equipped for rapid troop deployment, specifically military platforms are almost always capable of this.
While not an extremely complicated design, the Clyde is not a cheap technological terror to construct, and as such the resources put into its construction may cause some to question its cost-efficiency, since often they are kept in storage. However, none can deny their battle effectiveness.
Capabilities
Propulsion
Travel Type | Capability | Notes |
---|---|---|
High Speed | No | While hardly lumbering, the Clyde is only capable of moving at about 40kmph |
Evasive Action | No | The Clyde is too upright and heavy to do much fast maneuvers. |
Hover | No | All repulsor emitters are fitted solely to ease mass on the legs and keep the large body upright. |
Flight | No |
Propelled by four hydraulic legs, the clydes diesel-electric motor also powers a series of small repulsor emitters which assist the movement of the legs and help maintain upright posture.
Armament
HR-24 Automatic Rifle
24x170mm automatic rifle, the notes on the technical manual underneath the scratching out may appear to say “Anti-Personnel use”.
VC-90 "Tormento" Cannon
A rather plain weapon similar to most tank guns. This one is magazine feed with a variety of standard armor piecing and utility rounds.
PAC-40 Cannon
40MeV Particle Accelerator Cannon. A large energy drain on the Clydes batteries, but the sheer volume of firepower from single shot is enough to severely damage most routine sized enemies. For everything else, there's a swarm of Clydes who can cover each other during the recharge time.
2x8 60mm Missile Pods
Carrying a variety of missile times including SAM, Intercept, Radiation-seeking, and smoke warheads. This weapon system plugs the gaps in the Clydes defense system against low flying aircraft, tactical missiles, and some electronic warfare.
Protective Equipment
Active Energy Shield System
A temporary directional bubble shield which can be sustained only for a limited time, the Clydes engine unable to keep it raised all the time. Therefore it is used as a preemptive intercept against enemy munitions.
??mm Armour Plating
Thick armor is always the Clydes primary protection, and the Clyde is formidably armored at that. The plating is designed to be resistant to both kinetic, energy, and chemical strikes.
Ring Laser Point-Defense System
Small eyeball lasers dotted around the Clydes body provide an effective munitions counter system. Explosive countermeasures are available from a secondary port just below each Eye to attempt to counter even dumb munitions. All of these eyes are protected by armored shutters when not in use.
Secondary Systems
Pop-Cap Battery Bank
Highly disposable capacitors which provide a quick charge capability to the Clyde, the process of draining them burns them up from extreme heat so they are often ejected at quarter second intervals as a heat venting measure. Resembling casings from a machingun turning into bright embers and folding in on themselves from heat. While small, these batteries are able to provide emergency power to shields, weapons, and even in the event of engine failure support the main battery banks until their eventual expenditure.
Form Foam Fire Suppression and Secondary Armor System
This foam, usually stored in pressurized containers, acts as a firefighting mechanism and quick armor repair by filling parts of the interior with rapidly setting, hard forming foam which can resist small caliber fire and a chance to prevent a second penetration through the hole in the armor.
OOC
For those really large pitched battle scenes. Not often for individual sale. Check with your GM before purchasing.
