I was entertaining the idea earlier of making a new species in the setting. Some kind of middle ground between captain amelia and those really toothy ladies I was linking the other day The concept was that they'd be a species that was “uplifted” rather than achieved spaceflight itself, and is rather violent but has learned to (mostly) play nice in society. I really just wanted an excuse for a species that would totally bite and gore a motherfucker if they wanted to other concept: Their “societies” puts on the airs of nobility as a show for others (probably due to conditioning in the uplift process) but really just is an excust to get blood all over elizibethan clothing.

They'd probably use some form of infusion if they went into psionics. I can't imagine them being a species for much finesse. infusion at the point of striking, more for slashing or piercing strikes rather than bludgeoning. Other concept: Their mages are all wild mages.not like, Rod of Wonder level thojust more randomized outputs so if one mage were attempting an attack, it could be anywhere from a spitball to a fireball I imagine intent recognition is a big thing so if one were to try to enhance somebody, it'll be an enhancement of SOME kind. other concept: Spell storage becomes very popular for them since spell output is randomized upon cast so it's better to cast ahead of time and store for later.like potions and oils and scrolls and shit but maybe better than potions and scrolls I mean if you want to tempt a species that revels in being bathed in the blood and viscera of their enemies by all means I think they’d definitely be solely carnivorous for obvious reasons Due to being an uplifted species I’d assume they probably don’t really have a culture of their own aside from blood sport Debating whether they came from a bronze age or a stone age The former means they’d have the propensity for actual blood sport but it means there’d be some vestiges of culture The latter means they’d be easier to set up but end up being kinda Vorcha-ey Also in question are the reasons for uplifting. Disposeable soldiers? Attempted goodwill by way of “look we enlightened the savages”? Maybe a more morally ambiguous “because we could” I'm now imagining some science conclave throwing a party, getting drunk, and then irresponsibly using their tech to uplift them courtship rituals involves both parties presenting the hearts of their respective competitive suitors as gifts. so long as their nose/forehead and all that end up a different shade than the lower half of their face it should be fine And they don’t necessarily follow a doctrine of darwinist “da strawng lead” but I’m not sure how to derail that but keep their bloody obsession Maybe they just don't consider gutting someone to not be a viable option in civilized living?
