Raiken History

The complete history of the Raiken up to present day.

Not much is recorded on the Raiken during this era. The Raiken were known to travel in 'Sarhi' or clans, roaming their hellish world of Ranil'inas. Raiken fought each other as much as they fought their hostile environment, their reasons ranging from food to safe mating grounds or purely because they wanted to. Their homeworld was plagued by predators, natural hazards, and unrelenting temperatures. Predators were as well equipped as the Raiken were for the seemingly impossible environment, both animals and plants. They were far from the top of the food chain during this era and it was a fight for survival at the time.

Ros Isov ended when the leading Raiken of the largest clans met at common grounds (Sarhi Relatir, Ormroth, Slevexa, Rakavasu, and Delrasu), to end their ways of roaming, instead building safe mating grounds for all Raiken. The ending of the Ros Isov was the start of true progress and it officially ended with the start of the construction of Sial'roshya, the first Raiken city.

Soon after the construction of their city, during an expedition into the Kalil vi S'aeruz (Band of Storms), the Raiken discovered five obelisks of onyx, all inscribed with intricate lettering. After the limited study of these obelisks, the Raiken deducted that they belonged to a race called, “Roshya” (Ancient Clan). Their answer wasn’t far off, as the obelisks belonged to an extinct ethnic group of Raiken that had lived in the Kalil vi S'aeruz who were completely wiped out. The Raiken used the lettering on these obelisks to create their own written language and still use the same letters today.

The Raiken believed that these “Roshya” had helped them survive in the harsh environment of Ranil'inas and had done so for the Raiken to become their “S'nadrai” (Champions). This event shaped the Raiconian faith and unified their people spiritually.

Soon after gunpowder was discovered, explosive and ballistic weaponry were introduced. The advancement in the ability to kill and ever increasing tension between clans kindled the flames of war and not long after the 'Athar thero S'inir' (War between Brothers/Civil War) broke out. The 'Resa Sarhi' (Elder Clans) had begun to stockpile weaponry; all fearing that one clan was after another and vice versa. The feelings of being hunted were amplified by occurrences at the time, a string of deaths and murders of members from all clans.

Tensions rose until shots were fired. This quickly led to an all-out war between the clans and nearly led the Raiken straight into their own extinction. It didn’t take long for all clans, big or small, to come up with a reason to kill. The unlikely heroes of the war were the high sages of Ormroth. They created a document that would ally all clans to all clans, to work for the better of the race, instead of betterment of a small group or individual. This document was called the ‘Tiam vi Raiken’ (Raiconian Alliance/Alliance of Raiken) and through clever negotiations by the sages to the Resa Sarhi, involving positions of power within this ‘Alliance’, the document was accepted. When the Resa Sahri accepted, it was easy for them to suppress the minor clans. After the fighting stopped, the Raiken entered an era of peace, focusing on technology to help their people survive.

The Raiken began recording time at this point, using RAC or Raiconian Alliance Cycle. A cycle lasts 12 moon orbits. It takes both of their moons, Rel and Ral, roughly a month to orbit around Ranil'inas. They decided to count the number of times Ral orbited for no particular reason.

0 RAC to 225 RAC

Following the Athar thero S'inir, the Raiken were left to rebuild what they had lost, replenish their numbers, and prepare for the future.

The government settled in, experimenting with their power and keeping the peace. A police force was established, maintaining justice and order, allowing the government to handle criminals, instead of leaving the clans to settle things themselves. Laws were created, bringing order where it was needed. Farms and factories belonged to the government, allowing them to ensure that everyone had everything they needed to survive. Minor Councils were created to handle specialized duties suited to the council member’s strengths.

While the government executed its power, the brightest of the Raiken sought ways to improve their way of living and chances of survival. Their focus was food and medicine. Better farming techniques improved crop yields; everyone had enough food to survive. Hospitals and research into microbiology prevented and cured diseases, almost doubling Raiken life expectancy.

The peace and lessened fear of predators allowed something to flourish that the Raiken had never been allowed. Culture. They made music, they danced, they created sport and games, they told stories, and created art. They built monuments and shrines to the Roshya. Instead of fearing when the next predator would show up to kill and destroy, they lived without fear within their city. Celebrations were held, almost daring the creatures of the wilds to flock to the massive festival fires, loud music, and singing of the Raiken.

It would be a time that all Raiken remember forever, wishing they could have it all again. It was an era that elders talked about reverently and story tellers praised.

The ‘Taile Isov’ (Golden Age) ended when scientists and researchers invested in defensive technology, which resulted in the most efficient killing machines that the Raiken have seen to date.

225 RAC to 300 RAC

The Isov vi Voraynr began when magnetic propulsion technology was implemented to produce guns that could penetrate even the Raiken’s armor with ease. The ballistic weapons of the prior ages needed far more power to break through the Raiken's strong natural armor. These new 'railguns' could do it with much less effort. It only took a small spark to start a fire.

After a small shootout between a group of warriors, who had been assigned to patrol duty, and weapon smugglers, the seeds of an upheaval were sown. The warriors had belonged to a Resa Sarhi, Rakavasu, a clan who believed in honor and straightforwardness while the smugglers were part of another Resa Sarhi, Slevexa, the most deceitful of all Raiken clans. The two families did not get along in the past and still didn't. Once the clans figured out what had happened, they swore to avenge their kin and when the justice system didn't resolve the problem peacefully, weapons were drawn.

Soon after the clans called support from their many allies, drawing in a majority of Raiken Sarhi, old and new, large and small into the conflict. Sporadic shootouts in the streets and fires blazed in almost every Raiken city on Ranil'inas. The situation could have escalated further had the government not deployed warriors to the cities to crush the riots. Better equipped and better trained than the clans, they soon fell to the might of the Alliance's armies.

After the matter had been sorted and the “allies” of the two Resa Sarhi had discovered what they fought over, those “allies” became “enemies”. Slevexa lost everything they had and now remain a somewhat small house, though they still operate in the smuggling business to this day and as a Resa Sarhi, they still hold substantial sway. Rakavasu, after a long time spent on the bottom of Raiken hierarchy for their initial involvement in this upheaval, have made to make a return to their previous post. The government tightened control over the populace, especially on firearms, explosives, and military grade vehicles.

The government created a secret organization known as “Arri Sa'sarskis” (Hidden Protectors), agents of the government sent out to seek unrest, talks of rebellion, and other such happenings, and silence them before it began.

300 RAC to 400 RAC

With Ranil'inas running out of natural resources, the government pushes for the brightest to discover solutions. With government funding and support, the Raiken begin to mine a nearby asteroid belt.

Although the resource problem was fixed for the time being, the exploration raised another question, “What else is out there?” This question was the reason for continued government funding and support for space exploration. The brightest delivered, going farther and farther in their system, going as far to colonize another planet that the Raiken could live on.

They had explored their system, but there were thousands more. A solution was made soon after, Phase Engines, which allowed their ships to travel faster than light. They built a ship with their new engine and began to explore.

400 RAC to 451 RAC (Present Year)

The Raiken are currently looking outwards to other stars, seeking to expand their influence. They are in the process of colonizing systems and charting new systems.
