Ranil'inas is the homeworld for the Raiken and a hellish homeworld it is. It is tidally locked, meaning one side of the planet always faces the sun, leaving the other side in complete darkness. The middle band of the planet is the most habitable, left in eternal dusk/dawn.

Because Ranil'inas is tidally locked, it creates a series of distinct regions on the planet, where each region adopts a certain type of climate, based on the amount of sunlight, heat, and water it has. This gives the planet a distinct striped appearance.

The Poles

The East and West Pole are impossible locations to reach, let alone survive in.

The East Pole always faces the sun and as such, it is hot enough to melt lead there. Some scientists entertained the idea of putting together an aerial expedition utilizing new Alliance tech, but the project was quickly canceled.

The West Pole has never seen any light outside of moonlight and is so cold that liquids freeze nigh instantaneously. A few foolish expeditions were put together in the old days to visit the pole, but none of them succeeded. The Alliance has denied any further attempts at reaching the pole, as it has no value.

  • Tilye Tril vi Roshya - This is the most sacred place in existence for the Raiken. It is here, in the center of the Kalil vi S'aeruz, the Roshya passed their knowledge on, by engraving it upon six obelisks of onyx. The grounds are guarded by warriors appointed by the Nacur Shai vi Cheryn. Their appointed duty is to allow no damage or desecration to come to these sacred grounds, even if it costs their life.
  • Kela vi vuras Oscha - This is the final monastery on the Fymord veca Nekiru vuras Aeras, where the wisest of all Raiken meet. Being invited here is one of the highest honors any individual may receive. In addition to being the seat of wisdom, this monastery contains the most extensive scholarly library ever known, containing hundreds of thousands of volumes and scrolls ranging across all subjects and ages. It is also a simply astounding structure, built in ancient times and modified very little since then.
  • Delser vi S'irtai - Here, at the base of Daramai Rakavasu's falls, giant depictions of the great heroes are shown battling. The Roshya: Vexa, Delras, Rakava, Ormak, Rela, and the Unknown Warrior are shown in what the Raiken to believe 'scale'. Each statue is at least twenty feet tall. The story behind their construction claims that each statue took a lifetime to build, ensuring that every tiny detail was right. At their deathbed, the sculptor gave their child the task of constructing the next statue. This continued until all six were constructed.
  • Rari Atha - On the opposite side of Daramai Delrasu, a massive lava river empties into an 'ocean' of lava below. These falls span several kilometers, split by rocks. The heat given off by is visible from space with infrared sensors. Before electricity, the light given off by the falls was visible from space.

The Raiken have an extensive but limited road, tunnel, and bridge system stretching across their world, though they are careful to preserve the beauty of their planet. Most Raiken abide by an age old tradition of riding a predator animal. This tradition typically only applies to personal transport. These animals are hardy, usually fast, and immensely dangerous to anyone the rider does not like.

For transportation outside of personal travel, the Alliance has an public transport system set up, a series of transports, trains, and aircraft that run on strict schedules. It is possible to get just about anywhere on the planet in a matter of hours.

Air travel can be dangerous with the Band of Storms, but the Alliance ensures to keep aircraft away from it.

Water travel is very uncommon since most Raiken are deathly afraid of deep water. Personal watercraft are rare, making the slow barges that the Alliance employs the only thing on the water most of the time.
