Lorath Water Filtration Device

A pre-Exodus technology the Lorath Water Filtration Device is a canister designed to purify water. It is one of the LSDFs most widely produced products and exists in surplus numbers in a variety of Lorath emergency shelters, stores, and warehouses in an attempt to ensure that in the event of emergency water will never be a concern for the Lorath people.

As a result of the impact of one of Lor's moons, the state of the planet's atmosphere, ecology, and in particular it's hydrosphere, water cycle, and weather patterns were severely altered in ways that would take decades or centuries to stabilize. As a result of this catastrophe the need for a reliable source of clean water for the people who inhabit the planet was declared a priority.

To this end a call for a solution was made and many inventors, companies, and governmental branches offered solutions to the problem of providing reliable clean water. Among these solutions was the advent of the Lorath Water Filtration Device, allowing for easy, portable filtration of water using a combination of long known, and recent filtration innovations.

  • Manufactured By: Lorath Matriarchy, lsdf
  • Function: Intended for the storage, purification, and temperature control of up to 2L of water.1)

The main body of the device is constructed of a mixture of an amorphous diamond-like carbon allotrope impregnated with a carbon nanotube mesh, with the body proper sheathed in a layer of "Stone Thread". The physical dimensions of the device are 250mm in height, with an 80mm diameter for the 500ml model; 300mm in height, 95mm in diameter for the 1L model; and 360mm in height, with a 120mm diameter in the 2L model. The 500ml and 1L capacities are intended for individual users, while the 2L variety is most often assigned to groups form 2-4 individuals. For the ease of use the form of the device is designed to be easily held as well as providing a convenient opening to drink from directly.

The exterior of the device features an OLED display, as well as rubberized tactile dust and water proofed buttons allowing for the user to check present fluid capacity remaining, as well as view and adjust the present temperature of the water within. This screen also provides information to the user on the status of the device and warns of any component failure.

When empty the device can be easily filled from any available water source either through the mouth of the device or by using the integrated pump activated with a button press. Any water placed within the device is then sampled and the level of contamination is determined by integrated systems. In the event that the water is deemed unsuitable for drinking, the filtration process ruins passing the stored water through a series of modern synthetic-organic filters as well as standard mineral and carbon filters.

Filtered organic material is passed into the Water Filtration Device's internal Lorath Bacterial Charge Pack to provide power for continued operation to the device. Left-over inorganic and organic by-products are typically vented as a non-toxic gas, or in the event of dangerous compounds transferred into a sealed, remove-able, replaceable, holding chamber.

Excess power provided by the Bacterial Charge Pack is provided to the device's temperature regulation systems. This system using thermo-electric components allows the user to heat or cool the water contained within to suit the user's desires.2)

Commonly available models come in five colors, with either a matte or metallic finish; red, blue, green, white, and black. Decorative sleeves for the device, as well as specialized models for organizations such as the LSDF are not unheard of.

This one changed a lot so Eistheid credits themself.

1)
1L and 500ml models also exist
2)
It is however inadvisable to place teabags or flavourings into the device as the filtration system will not discriminate between intentional additives and water contamination.
