 Her unusually massive hull for a fighter is nessesitated by her requirement for her large sheoul-burning subspace engine and large control surface antennae used to remain stable at higher speeds during faster-than-light travel or approaching FTL speeds. This grants the Amelia massive and unheard of navigational independence for a craft of its size -- though it was enormously dependant on pre-planned refuelling and intense maintenance on her two high grade FTL engines.
