Affiliations Lorath Matriarchy

Theme THEME
  • Face and Eyes - Danny has an honest appearing, rounded face with a skinny nose. His blue eyes show signs of weariness from accumulated travel, and the weight of Robert's misdeeds.
  • Hair - He sports dirty blonde, mid-length hair fixed in place with product. In addition, Danny sports a chinstrap beard and some stubble. Robert usually foregoes the hair gel, embracing the unruly ruffles and playing up the mullet.
  • Body - Danny is a skinny man of below-average stature with double-joints nearly everywhere you can think of1), and fair skin.
  • Distinguishing Features - There are two scars on his head, both partially hidden by his hairline, and caused by gunfire. One is in the middle of his forehead, and the other cut though his right temple. He also has a tendency to fob for cigarettes when stressed, even if they aren't on his person.
  • Voice - Optional link to a voice sample, or a description of the character's voice.

Abilities

Theme - A man with a double consciousness, and skills in espionage, and infiltration.

  • Infiltrator - With specialised training appropriated from both Search & Rescue doctrines, the school of hard knocks, and some other gifts from shady backers, Danny is a capable second-storey man.
    • Flexibility - Danny possesses a surprisingly supple and limber frame, and he is able to contort his body to squeeze through tight spaces or hide from unwanted attention. Robert appears to know how to take use of this as well.
    • Linguist - The same injury that destroyed Robert's identity at first rendered Danny's brain able to pick up new languages very quickly. Exploiting this, Danny can learn new languages and impersonate native speakers after a couple of months observing and immersing himself in the culture.
  • Split Personality - During transition between where he came from, and this world, Danny's former life and personality as the notorious pirate Robert Forde was regained. With two pools of experience to draw on, Danny and Robert can be a formidable two-for-one package.
    • Not One Without The Other - If Danny's personality is subsumed or subverted in some way by hostile influences, Robert's personality can take over the body and act as a backup person. However, Robert's experiences and demeanour as well as unfamiliarity with the new world around him make socialising regarding anything recent or relevant difficult.
    • Hoist the Black Flag - In a critical moment, Robert seizes the wheel and foregoes all of Danny's sensibilities and subtlety for raw killing power if the situation demands it. However, this cannot be instantiated by Danny consciously - he needs to be in serious danger.

Psychology - Danny's psyche is a two-tined fork. Originally, he was a pirate by the name of Robert Forde - a pragmatic and darkly-inclined fellow with no qualms against violence and a lack of empathy towards his targets. During a disagreement with a partner over splitting loot, Robert was shot at, and a bullet grazed his skull. His attacker presumed he was dead when he hit the ground and started bleeding, so they took the money and ran.

Robert woke up two days later in an empty apartment with a sheet over his head, and no idea of who he was. He created the name 'Danny Hanley-Lewis' and proceeded back into the world anew as a lonely vagabond, with a more reserved and cool head than his former self. Danny strived for order and took up more upstanding jobs as a part of his wandering through space, avoiding undue attention from the long arm of the law, and preferring to keep deals close and quiet.

During his journey aboard the LSDF Herald however, the memories and persona Danny's previous self came flooding back upon reaching the new universe. After some initial confusion and a severe headache with the shock of two individuals occupying one body, Danny and Robert had time to bond over putting the ship back together. Their approaches and differing worldviews appear to have melded together, with Robert's pragmatism and ruthlessness, and Danny's calculating and cool head reaching a suitable and sustainable arrangement - it wasn't like Robert could go anywhere.

  • Likes Danny likes reading, the simple things in life, and his own company. Robert likes skulduggery, loose women, and anyone who enables him to be destructive. Together, they enjoy wandering.
  • Dislikes - Danny dislikes being picked on for any reason at all, gangsters, and impersonators. Robert dislikes anyone who looks at him funny, law enforcement, and whoever shot him in the head.
  • Goals - Together, Danny and Robert want to get by in the new universe.

Personality - Describe your character's personality in one paragraph here.

Affiliations and Beliefs

Danny's major affiliation is with the Lorath Matriarchy, working as a contractor for the LSDF Herald. However, he does not think much of the Lorath dogma and belief system; So long as they hold up their end of the deal and pay him for his services. Robert isn't entirely sure who the Lorath are, but he trusts Danny's judgement on them - and their ladies are nice on the eyes to him. The icing on the cake was the first one he met telling him and Danny to raid a space station.

Languages

Danny speaks Basic, and Lorath Ly'thir. Robert can only speak Basic.

Born as Robert Forde, this man grew up in a slum where violence was the norm, and Robert graduated from petty crimes into grand thefts and felonies. Eventually, he acquired a ship by hook and crook, and spent a good deal of his time rolling with different crews and eventually leading his own. One day at the 'peak' of his performance, a dispute over loot division between him and a love interest ended up with him being gunned down - or so his attacker thought after grabbing the cash and running in haste.

Two days later, Robert woke up in an empty apartment with a sheet covering him, a pair of bloody scars grazing his head, no idea of who he was, or how he got there. After leaving and trying to get by in a now unfamiliar neighbourhood, he adopted the name 'Danny Hanley-Lewis' and restarted his life from the ground up. Amongst other things, Danny was press ganged into a militia, worked as a right-hand-man for a CEO, drifted throughout the galaxy, met a few celebrities, was taken up by a shady corporation and trained to be a 'search and rescue' operative, and put those skills to use as a bounty hunter.

(More to come)

Write about your character's current experiences here, and how they are moving into their intended plot. Keep this section up to date with major plot events. Big changes can go under subheadings

Stealth [Expert]

In both of his lives as a pirate and as a bounty hunter, Danny and Robert had to exercise subterfuge, deception, and misdirection to stay undetected wherever they went, and for whatever they had their eyes on. In particular they can perform many tricks with their hands - putting them to use to pick pockets, steal unattended things, and cheat at cards.

Archaic Weapons [Advanced]

Danny learned how to handle a long blade as part of his training to become a search and rescue operative. In particular, he likes using powered edges. Robert meanwhile isn't as good with a sword, but he loves a baseball bat, a fire axe, and other improvised weapons.

Communications [Advanced]

His mind is surprisingly plasticine in understanding new languages, and he can learn the pidgin of an unfamiliar language after spending a few weeks amongst native speakers. Robert seems to be unable to take advantage of this however.

Firearms [Intermediate]

With some training in simple firearms, Danny is proficient with pistols, submachine guns, and rifles. Robert has a preference for more 'in your face' weapons, without any subtlety, and is noticeably more 'automatic' when handling firearms.

Medicine [Intermediate]

Possessing training in stabilising patients and patching up injuries, Danny can keep people medically safe and sound. Robert has no recollection of such skills.

Piloting [Intermediate]

Danny can pilot light and ultralight spacecraft, and knows the standard procedures and checks, as well as some aerobatics. Robert is also a capable pilot for similar craft.

Repair [Intermediate]

Though his repair skills were a back seat to his killing skills, Danny had to ply himself to keep the Herald running once it landed in the new world with Robert. The crash course on kludging upskilled him considerably, and lets him try his hand at kludging a fix for any system - documentation on hand or not.

Basic Skills

  • Physical - Tries his best to stay in shape, to remain flexible and supple.
  • Senses - Is sensitive to psionic phenomena thanks to his abnormal mental situation.
  • Gunner - Can use the guns on most light spacecraft.
