Gim
The Gim are a species mistakenly uplifted, but as a result of said uplifting put on airs to mask their more hideous natures. They're tall and long with several bestial attributes to their forms. To see them as a society, go here
Abilities Shortlist
- Sharp teeth, sharp claws
- Enjoys viscera and often eats meat raw.
- Able to use both magic and psionics, neither very refined.
- Shares some physical features with cats (Such as ears and teeth), but lacks slit eyes.
- Black blooded.
Development and Life Expectancy
Gim are a placental viviparous species, meaning they give birth similar to humans. Unlike humans, however, an individual Gima is born capable of walking and theoretically capable of taking care of themselves.
- Six month gestation period of one embryo at a time. Twins are HIGHLY uncommon.
- Childhood is 5 years, pubescence is 1-2 more.
- Gim can get up to 80 years old without any form of magical or technological life extension.
External Traits
Body Type
Seemingly human at first glance from afar, but the closer one gets the more obvious that a Gima is not human. Their bodies have a practically wendigo level of lankiness. Their arm span, for point of reference, is 1.25x their total height.
Limbs
Gim limbs are elongated and thick, but comparatively for their height simply look thin. Their hands and feet are capped in thick, slightly curved, black talons on each digit that reach 2 inches in length on average.
Average Height and Weight
Gim are between 6' to 8' in height, and weight of an adult ranges from 180lbs to 275lbs.
Dermal
Due to their black blood, their skin often takes a darker tinge more often than not. Their skin tones often take many similar tones to humans, with the blood provision in mind. Their skin is very smooth in appearance but is rough (but not coarse) on closer inspection. Their hands/forearms and their feet/shins take grayer hues as the skin there is thicker and denser in nature.
Pelage
Gim hair comes in two varieties: extremely thin and feathery, or thick and wiry strands.
Head
Scalp, forehead, and nose all the way down to the tip are usually a darker tone compared to the rest of their skin. Their ears are triangular, but their length begins just above where the jawline does and extends up above their heads in a point, which then goes down partways onto their head. The ears are finely furred, matching hair colour.
Vision
Gim pupils are rounded and tend to have darker irises than humans. If on the off chance they are albino, then their eyes would be black rather than red. Additionally, they have a wider range of pupilary expansion and contraction than humans, going to nearly-full iris expansion or shrinking to pinpoint size.
Oral
Gim teeth are sharp and jagged, but often maintain relative symmetry with themselves, good for their carnivorous diet. Their tongues are long, black, and rough, but their saliva is sticky so it often gives their tongue a sheen.
Vocalizations
Gim voices can hit the standard range of vocalizations for a humanish species.
Internal Traits
Senses
Gim tastebuds are lacking in definition, even as a reportedly civilized species. Their eyesight has high ultraviolet sensitivity, though they have trouble seeing the red end of the spectrum in higher definition. Their hearing makes up for this, having a much better higher range with equitable lower range to humans. Their sense of smell is slightly better as well, though not nearly as good as some predator species.
Skeleton
The Gim skeleton bears a lot of similarities to human skeleton, though the upper arms and thighs have a dual bone structure like the forearms and calves do, and their collarbones are unfused.
Organs
Two separate hearts, both on the right side of the body but one located in the ribcage and another closer to the hips. Otherwise standard set of organs host to endocrine, digestive, and other assorted systems.
Neurology
Gim brains are typical for most humanoids, composed of grey matter and neurons.
Diet
Gim are obligate carnivores that digest their food quickly (Four to six hours) and spend much of their energy
Immunology
Gim are particularly resistant to bloodbourne pathogens given their predispostion for blood sport.
Mental
Intelligence/Outlook
Gim intelligence is a tricky subject. As an uplifted species, they have the capacity for higher thinking and such, it often comes out in haughtiness, with some barely restrained brutality under it. They often have airs of grandeur and notions of regality. Gim generally have a positive, if aggressive outlook on subjects with a constant contemplation of other creature's mortality around them.
Interactions
With strangers
Strangers are prey. In polite company, strangers are regarded as untouchable, but it is unwise to be with a Gim in private or to provoke one.
With Familiar
With those they're familiar with, Gim are constantly pushing physical and emotional boundaries, stuck inside whatever social context they find themselves forced into. This lends itself to verbal backstabbing/playful prodding most of the time.
Magic
Gim magic has the capability to be very potent, but due to its incredibly undeveloped nature it tends to be very wild and unreliable.
Psionics
Gim psionics, much like magic, is a very rough and undeveloped art. They are capable of small acts, but they are not a psionically heavy species.
