Adhesion Canceller

Used in conjunction with self-correcting ultra-smooth surfaces, an adhesion canceller serves to electronically alter the van der Waals forces, electrostatic adhesion and diffusion. This plate is electronically variable in friction and can be made to have a higher friction in some parts than others. Used properly, this can serve as a sort of driving surface similar to the tread of a tank - pulling or pushing a craft along a surface or through a medium.

Adhesion cancellers are ideal contact surfaces with floor structures for high speed vehicles and enable a high degree of maneuverability and lateral motion if used in conjunction with thrusters to make up for the sluggish performance of the cancellers.
