The Dralu Flights value personal wealth and status. Backstabbing a neighbor for a small lead is encouraged.

The Dralu have a very strict social hierarchy, due to the limited number of social classes. The Noble Flights are the only group with any ruling power. There is a limited number of Noble Flights and all Noble Flights are predetermined, meaning no other flight is able to ascend to the status and no Noble Flight is able to lose its status.

All other Flights are referred to as Lesser Flights, mainly by the Noble Flights. The vast majority of Dralu belong to Lesser Flights. Lesser Flights have little to no power compared to Noble Flights. Most Lesser Flights are servants to their respective Noble Flight.

Below Lesser Flights are those with no Flight as all. The ‘Flightless’ are the lowest of the low and typically reside in the poorest districts of Noble Cities or escape to Free Cities. Being adopted into another Flight is somewhat common and depends mostly on the individual's skills.

Noble Flights

The Noble Flights are the self-proclaimed and tradition-supported center of Dralu society. Each Noble Flight holds dominion over a large swathe of territory and have ruled for hundreds upon thousands of years, imposing themselves on the Lesser Flights and the Flightless.

The Noble Flights have near absolute power in their territories and are the wealthiest Flights in Dralu society. Creating the laws, imposing taxes, providing guards, and punishing criminals are all things the Noble Flights are responsible for. Professionally, the Noble Flights are not required to work.

Noble Flights rarely get along, as their conflicts span countless years and with True Adults only existing in Noble Flights, some of these age old conflicts are still remembered by those who rule the Flight.

Lesser Flights

Merchants, farmers, monks, craftsman, and everything in between all belong to the Lesser Flights. Despite being the largest group out of the three, they still hold almost no political power. The Lesser Flights are generally servants of their respective Noble Flights, meaning they keep Noble Flight territory running and pay tribute for living there. Farmers pay their Noble Flights in crop, merchants in gold, and craftsman in supplies. Not all Lesser Flights are poor, but as a general rule, none are even close to the wealth of the Noble Flights.

Not all Lesser Flights are satisfied with this system and it isn’t uncommon for Lesser Flights and the Flightless to protest it.

Flightless

Orphans, undesirables, exiles, and criminals all find their way to the bottom of the social pyramid for various reasons. Regardless of the cause, they all bear the same dishonor. Most live in poverty or on the road. The Flightless rarely last long and their only salvation is being adopted by another Flight or dying and returning to the Great Mother.

Without Raiken interference, the Dralu have a very loose sense of standardized justice, owing to their lack of a central government. Each city does have a guard, who are responsible for enforcing order and law, but the code of law is different for each city. In Noble Flight territory, the ruling Flight creates the law. In Free Cities, the laws are established by ‘the people’ and a sense of common law. Because of this, most Free Cities have a similar code of law. Noble cities typically promote laws that benefit themselves and suppress other flights.

Outside of cities, justice is almost non-existent, making roads and small towns very dangerous places. Bandits and renegades roam the wilderness, harassing travelers and raiding trade caravans.

Although the Raiken ‘control’ the planet, they do not enforce their laws outside of a few zones.

The primary religion of the Dralu revolves around an ageless creation myth. It is said the Great Mother, a Dralu with rainbow colored scales flew over the world, her scales falling away to grant color to a gray landscape. Where her scales landed, the first Dralu were born. When all her scales were gone, she flew above the heavens and curled up to rest, becoming the moon.

For the Dralu, the Great Mother is their one 'god’. She represents all there is and the cycle of life and death. The Dralu regularly pray for blessings, safety, and their desires. When someone dies, they pray for Great Mother to receive her children once again.

Style

Fashion

As one might guess, there is a discrepancy between what the Noble Flights construct and live in and what the Lesser Flights or Flightless build.

The Noble Flights typically build ornate structures out of rare and exotic materials, mostly to flaunt their wealth and status. These buildings follow the more traditional style of Dralu architecture, which depends on the region and Noble Flight.

Prior to Raiken interference, Dralu possessed a Renaissance era level of technology. Basic firearms, a general grasp on most topics, such as fledgling astronomy and biology. However, with Raiken technology and knowledge in their hands, they have begun advancing rapidly, even modifying the Raiken's technology.

The Dralu possess no magical powers that have been noted. While their selective transformation into True Adults is strange, it is within their genetics.

Like magic, the Dralu possess no special powers of the mind. Although the intelligence and vast knowledge of true adults is staggering, they have no psionic abilities that anyone is aware of. There hasn’t been much testing in this field, however. There have been rumors of True Adults being able to speak telepathically.

They look upon these abilities with a mix of suspicion and awe. The vast majority of Dralu have a strong distaste for any abilities that permit the revelation of secrets since secrets are held as a sort of currency among some groups.
