Within the Lorath Matriarchy the political structure is that of a theocratic-monarchy with the Tur'lista as the royal family directly administering the Matriarchy from the top down. The heads of the three Castes, Fyunnen, Lmanel, and Occhestia function as representatives and convey the opinions, needs, and state of their Caste to the Tur'lista and in turn receive direction on how to proceed on the most important of issues. Beneath the Caste heads are representative councils composed of the heads of the larger and more prominent family lines within each caste each appointed by merit.
Laws and legislation for the Matriarchy is typically handled via council proposal which is circulated for consideration before being passed up to the Caste head who takes the issue directly to the Tur'lista. Alternatively government bodies may propose laws and legislation based on their needs allowing for issues to be handle both on a societal and administrative level.
For situations in which an issue only affects a local area or has minor impact on the populace are typically handled by Caste councils keeping minor issues from interfering with larger administrative choices.
Within the Matriarchy corruption in the government is mild at worst and fairly rare due to administrative positions being assigned based on individual merit rather than a vote which may be skewed as in most democracies. Within each Caste the amount of minor corruption varies; with the Fyunnen corruption is minimal due to strong moral and ethical codes. Lmanel officials while at times acting outside of the code of law are not corrupt, so much as focused on doing 'what is right', in cases where enforcing a given law may be more harmful than beneficial, some Lmanel may bend the rule of law as needed. Among the Occhestian officials some can be corrupt to a degree, largely depending on reasoning. If they feel that a proper accord can be reached which can influence a decision, then they will do what seems most suitable for the sake of accomplishing a goal.
By and large due to cultural precedent and official requirement political officials within the Matriarchy are required to maintain a degree of transparency with the general civilian population. As such things between officials and the populace are very open and most information is publicly available. When needed however secrets are kept and secret meetings are made though these are uncommon.
The relationship in the Matriarchy between the civilian population and the military is somewhat unique. This is due to the Fyunnen civilian government concurrently being a large chunk of the military, this is due to the Fyunnen government handles the traditional standing army. Additionally the Lmanel operate their own military branch, largely in a manner comparable to well organized rangers and game wardens. The Occhestian Caste also posses their own standing military police force, which is use in conjunction with the Lorath Inquisition for maintaining domestic security.
