====== Occupations ======
The following is a list of occupations commonly seen throughout Wandering Star. Player Characters can elect to be employed in these roles, and can draw upon occupational knowledge or connections during Roleplay. These occupations can be applied for and worked at in any reasonably civilised location. So long as the employers and infrastructure which directly (or indirectly) interacts with the role are present, these jobs are available((For example, a character can't have a job in radio presenting on a barren planet with no listeners, or infrastructure to support transmission. Well - they can try pirate radio, but they won't be making much money!)).

This is not an exhaustive or definite list of occupations, or pay grades for characters. Players are encouraged to branch out and explore the possibilities. All pay listed is in [[society/kingdom_of_albion#currency|Albion Currency (AC)]], and does not take into consideration things like insurance, pensions, protection, access to services or housing; superannuation, contacts, favours, and other perks and responsibilities as is plausible for the position, and the society around it.

|**Bounty Hunter**|Law Enforcement|Pursues, apprehends, and brings wanted criminals to law enforcement officials, or persons of interest to private employers. |**Courier**|Logistics|Responsible for transporting, or coordinating the movement of goods and messages across the galaxy.|AC15000.00 to AC140000.00|Most are freelancers of varying skill in piloting and combat. Never dull!|
|**Doctor**|Medical|Not a bricklayer. Can also cover psychologists, psychiatrists, surgeons, field medics, paramedics, radiologists, EMT staff, veterinarians, nurses, cybernetics installers, or other forms of healers((Such as magic, psionics, or divine intervention. Whatever works, y'know?)).|AC65000.00 to AC236000.00|Xenobiology experience varies by doctor. Thorough study and accreditation required.|
|**Engineer**|Industrial, Commercial|Designs, prototypes, repairs, and/or builds and programs machinery, vehicles, spacecraft, gadgets, and more. Can also represent architects, armourers, builders, factory workers, gunsmiths, or handymen.|AC45000.00 to AC154000.00|More mechanical than digital, requiring endurance. |**Entertainer**|Arts, Sports|An artist, actor, singer, dancer, athlete, radio personality, or other media figure. Their success is dependent on the quality their output, personality, and the reactions of their audience.|AC23000.00 to AC215000.00|High barrier to entry on 'super stardom' in each field, but local success is always possible.|
|**Explorer**|Civic, Adventurer|The universe outside of [[territories/aleph_null]] and [[territories/acala]] are fraught with wonder, mystery, and danger. Explorers seek treasure, technology, knowledge, or answers, and perhaps turn a profit from discovery.||Invites a broad array of takers and skillsets to excel. Never dull!|
|**Farmer**|Agricultural|Grows and harvests fruit, vegetables, or grain for consumption. They can also herd domesticated animals like cattle, sheep, chickens, or other creatures for products like milk, meat, eggs, wool, or leather.|AC39000.00 to AC132000.00|Not glamorous, but still necessary and quite honest.|
|**Journalist**|Commercial|Observes and reports newsworthy material for their own gain, or various providers, blogs, and outlets. Failing that, there's usually an audience //somewhere...//|
|**Merchant**|Commercial|Creates and acquires wares, and trades them across space for wealth. Can be expanded to include salarymen, craftspeople, marketers, stock traders, or investment moguls.|AC12000.00 to AC235000.00|Successful merchants can become highly influential, creating corporations to continue transporting and acquiring goods, or marketable brands.|
|**Miner**|Industrial|Strikes the earth, asteroid belts, planetary rings, or gas giants, for ore, gemstones, oil, gasses, or [[guide/transportation/sheoul|sheoul]]. Can also include foundry personnel, refinery workers, or derrick workers.|AC63000.00 to AC170000.00|You gotta be tough stuff, handy in a powered hardsuit, and on alert for pirates.|
|**Police Officer**|Law Enforcement|A member of a society's police force, or other enforcer of law. Can also represent detectives, private investigators, SWAT, beat cops, or brownshirts.|AC50000.00 to AC177000.00|Hazards vary according to society; Diverse societies present diverse means of crime.|
|**Politician**|Civic|Represents a constituency, or is the spearhead of an ideological movement. Can also include activists, diplomats, ministerial staff, pundits, lobbyists, and campaign crew.((On the darker end of the scale, there are fanatics, evangelists, cult leaders, and terrorists.))|AC27000.00 to AC217000.00|Can run the gamut from honest and above board, to rotten bastards who need a kick in the ass.|
|**Scientist**|Academic|Conducts experiments, research, and trials into new fields of technology. Can also represent various specialisations: astronomers, archivists, biologists, chemists, forensics, historians, physicists, statisticians, and more.|AC53000.00 to AC207000.00|Requires years of study, and can be prone to madness.|
|**Smuggler**|Criminal|Transports illegal cargo and fugitives using covert storage space in their spacecraft, while posing/working as a different occupation or freelancing.|AC10000.00 to AC190000.00|Dangerous and shady. Requires specialised equipment for nondetection, but highly rewarding.|
|**Soldier**|Military|Serves as a member of a nation's fighting/defence force, or privately employed as security aboard a starship, for a company, or as a mercenary. Can be specialised further into different combat or support roles with additional training.|AC32000.00 to AC175000.00|Responsibilities and duties vary by local society, and/or private employer's interests. May have to supply((Or otherwise appropriate...)) own equipment.|
|**Spacecraft Crew**|Commercial, Military|Crew for a spacecraft, starship, or space station. This can include freighters, battleships, or space colonies. This can include captains, gunners, book keepers, communications officers, cargo technicians, custodians, and ground control.|AC30000.00 to AC138000.00|The threat of piracy is a common occupational hazard.|
|**Technician**|Industrial, Commercial|Designs, prototypes, programs, and builds computers and hardware. Can also cover energy-based gunsmiths, gadgeteers, hackers, hardlight manipulators, network administrators, security experts, spacecraft technicians, and website designers.|AC38000.00 to AC164000.00|More digital than mechanical, and requires a degree of finesse.
