Projection/ammo type: Multiple Caliber Chemical Propelled Solid Munitions
Firing Mechanism: A round is fed into the chamber from an external magazine when the bolt of the firing assembly is pulled back. The pulling of the bolt prepares the trigger assembly's mechanism. When the trigger is pulled, the mechanism releases, and forces the hammer which is connected to it and enclosed in the firing mechanism assembly to collide with the propellant/casing of the munition. The hammer's impact, combined with a piezoelectric spark ignites the munition's propellant. The gas released from the propellant propels the projectile down the weapon's barrel. The gas released from the propellant is also utilized to re-initiate the mechanical procedure which fired the initial shot, enabling the weapon to continue firing after the initial discharge.
Caliber: The weapon can be adjusted to accept munitions ranging from 4mm to 12mm, with casings ranging from 4mm to 13mm in width, case lengths from 10mm to 60mm, and overall lengths up to 80mm.
Ranges listed are applicable in 1g of gravity |
* Effective Range: Average of 1.5 Miles / 2.41 Kilometers
Muzzle Velocity: Utilizing standard 7.62 x 51 mm, the projectile travels at 900 M/s.
Muzzle Blast: The muzzle blast of the weapon is a 2 inch cone which projects outward from the barrel, and several 1 inch 'flares' which emit from the gas vents of the barrel.
Firing Modes: Semi-Auto, 3-Round Burst, Full Auto.
Recoil: The rifle's recoil on average when firing 7.62 x 51mm is easily manageable and comparable to recoil usually encountered when firing 5mm cartridges.
Rate Of Fire: When firing 7.62 x 51mm, the rifle is capable of firing 800 Rounds per minute.
The Multi-Caliber Service Rifle is capable of using most 7.62mm munitions, pistol ammunition, and other small-arms caliber munitions, however the rifle is intended to fire firing 4mm to 12mm Lorath solid munitions.
The rifle is compatible with cased and caseless munitions.
Recalibration Dials: Located beneath the bolt of the weapon, a pair of dials are built into the side of the weapon which allow for the adjustment of the rifle's caliber. The caliber adjustment mechanism is designed to automatically stop adjustment when the proper calibration is found to match the chambered ammunition.
Standard Issue “M'Cel” Grenade Launcher Compatibility: This rifle is fully compatible with the “M'Cel” multi-caliber grenade launcher system.
Synthetic Rubber Grips: This rifle includes long-lasting weather resistant moisture wicking synthetic rubber grips. These grips can optionally be stamped with the emblem of the Lorath Matriarchy.
Various Ammunition Magazine Compatibility: This rifle is capable of accepting various sizes of magazines, and can be adjusted to accept pistol, rifle, and some machine gun magazines. The rifle's magazine adjustment functions in the same manner as the rifle's caliber adjustment.
Unscrewable and Replaceable Barrel: The barrel of the rifle is designed to be able to be unscrewed from the frame and replaced quickly. Various barrel sizes are available to improve accuracy with various ammunitions. The standard issue rifle includes both 7.65mm and 5.56mm compatible barrels.
Self-Adjusting Bolt: Through the use of a picoscopic-machine laden metallic jelly (The technology for which seems to be borrowed), the bolt of the rifle is capable of expanding or contracting to allow for the proper chambering of cased and caseless munitions, and to properly accommodate a large number of various munitions. The expansion and contraction is handled automatically by the jelly in automatic adaptation to the ammunition chambered.
However, ammunition of approximately 7mm does not require pico-jelly to seal the bolt properly, due to the inherent physical design of the bolt.
Standard Issue Replacement Pico-Jelly: Issued with each rifle is a 3oz container of pico-jelly which is to be applied to the bolt of the weapon during maintenance procedures. It is advised that this be done after every 400 discharges.
DO NOT ABUSE YOUR PICO-JELLY SUPPLY, your issued amount of pico-jelly is not to be utilized for uses other than rifle maintenance. Users are highly discouraged from utilizing the pico-jelly for unauthorized usage. Remember, supply officers will keep track of issued pico-jelly, and will be able to recognize abuse of resources. – Rifle field manual, Page 5, 'Maintenance Procedures and Guidelines' |
Standard Issue Sights Package: Included with each issued rifle are reflex 'Red Dot' sights, and iron sights.
Interchangeable Trigger Assembly: The trigger assembly of this rifle is interchangeable with all LM-SA-AR-(Blank)-01-30 rifle systems.
Field Maintenance Procedure: To maintain the weapon in the field, it is suggested that the weapon be cleaned of dust and debris, oiled, and kept dry if possible. Picoscopic-Jelly is to be applied to the bolt at each post-firing cleaning. Picoscopic-Jelly is to be applied after every four-hundred discharges.
Replaceable Parts and components: All components are replaceable and replacement parts can be readily ordered from the manufacture through most communication networks.
The mutli-caliber rifle has been designed by the Lorath Matriarchy and Lorath Self Defense Force to be fielded by infantry and some power-armor forces. Due to the nature of the Lorath, the rifle was accepted with remorse and regret, thus the rifle was dubbed with the title “Soh'mit Dy'c” or “Cursed Tool”. Despite the regrettable need to utilize such a weapon, soldiers who are issued the rifle treat the weapon with the same respect they treat their melee weapons which they still wear even as they field their rifles.
