The largest and most observable differences among the Lorath people, the Caste structure provides definition and the core of an identity for the citizens of the Matriarchy. The Caste to which any particular Lorath belongs to will often tell much about what sort of individual they are, and what their role in Lorath society is.
The ruling Caste, House Tur'lista though the smallest caste functions as administrator and mediator for the other three Castes, guiding the Lorath people forward and maintaining unity in the Matriarchy. At present, the Caste is ruled by the High Priest Velor “Tomoe” Tur'lista.
The warrior Caste, House Fyunnen concerns itself with the safety and security of the Matriarchy supplying the vast majority of the Matriarchy's soldiers, police, and security personnel. The Fyunnen pride themselves on their dedication to the Matriarchy as well as their martial prowess.
The shaman Caste, House Lmanel concerns itself with the environmental concerns of the Matriarchy a task that includes and extends beyond the protection and maintenance of the ecology of Lorath held worlds, to include mediation for Matriarchy Citizens, spiritual guidance, management of the Helashio, and a soothing voice in Matriarchy politics urging consideration and thoughtfulness.
The psionic Caste, House Occhestia concerns itself with the development, progress, and internal affairs of the Matriarchy making up the bulk of the Matriarchy's scientists, engineers, and administrators. In times past the Occhestia performed domestic security duties within the Matriarchy a task now gladly shared with House Fyunnen following events that deeply wounded the Occhestians.
A joint effort bringing together members from House Fyunnen, House Lmanel, and House Occhestia in the defense of the Matriarchy against external threats the Lorath Self Defense Force or LSDF serves as the vanguard and primary bulwark against the threats of the universe at large.
